Visit Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, the most representative shrine in northern Kyushu (Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Oita prefectures). Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is the head shrine of 12,000 Tenmangu shrines throughout Japan, enshrining Kanbara Michizane, who is known as the god of Japanese learning. Its status is equivalent to the Temple of Confucius in China. It is a famous tourist attraction in Fukuoka, with more than 7 million people visiting it every year.
