DAY 01

On this day, take a Thai Airways or Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong International Airport to Bangkok Airport, and then go to a hotel near Bangkok Airport to rest.

[Thimbu City Scenery]

At an altitude of approximately 2,550 meters, Thimphu has developed into a metropolis with a population of nearly 100,000 since becoming the capital in 1961. It is Bhutan's political, economic, military, religious, cultural, and educational center, and its largest city. Thimphu is the only capital city in the world without traffic lights; vehicles are directed solely by police officers wearing white gloves.

【Duoqula Pass】

At an altitude of approximately 3,200 meters, the landmark of the Dochula Pass is a group of 108 stupas, creating a solemn atmosphere. Also known as the Triumphal Stupa, it was built by the Queen of Bhutan to pray for the country and to commemorate the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the war. On a clear day, one can look north to see the eastern foothills of the Mahila Mountains, with their continuous snow-capped peaks, and gaze at the magnificent and surging mountain range.

Punaka

Punakha, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Bhutan (the government moved the capital to Thimphu in 1955), is located in the north-central part of the country at an altitude of 1,300 meters. Legend has it that Padmasambhava prophesied that "a man named Namgyal will build a castle on a hill shaped like a reclining elephant." In the 17th century, the famous general Namgyal came to Punakha and discovered a hill shaped very similar to a reclining elephant. He then built a castle on the tip of the elephant's trunk, fulfilling the prophecy from a thousand years ago.

Tiger's Den Temple

Located north of Paro, Tiger's Nest Temple (Taksang) is said to be the site where Guru Padmasambhava once rode a tiger. To commemorate this, devotees built the temple on this location. The temple is situated in a precarious position, perched on a cliff face. To ascend to the Tiger's Nest and explore its depths, a guided tour can be taken, traversing the forest and following a trail to the temple. (The round trip takes approximately 5-6 hours; during the hike, you can decide whether to complete the entire route or return halfway to rest, depending on your physical condition). Upon arrival, gazing upon this temple in such a remote location, you will appreciate the immense dedication of Bhutanese people who built this magnificent structure, allowing future generations the privilege of visiting this sacred temple.

【Guque Temple】

This is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Legend has it that the temple was built on the joints of a demon to suppress her. Gujang Monastery is a twin-temple complex. The first monastery was built by Sonam Gampo in 638. Later, Queen Ashi Kesang commissioned the construction of a new temple of the same style next to this ancient one. Since then, Gujang Monastery has not only become a sacred place of worship for the local people, but also a popular venue for weddings by many celebrities from both within and outside Bhutan, who hope to receive blessings from the high monks.
